Hello and Merhaba. I am one of the Research Fellows and “the Boston connection” of EcoMod. I am very enthusiastic about the unique nature of EcoMod and am proud to be a member of the “team”.
My economics adventure started at Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey as one of the establishers of the “Dead Economist Society” (along with fellow “EcoMod”er Yunus Aksoy). After being involved in World Bank and UNIDO projects, I found myself at Boston College in Boston, USA for my doctoral studies, where I have been residing for the last seven years. My interest in general equilibrium must come from the urge to “include everything”. In this last seven years, I have worked twice at the World Bank, consulted for the Boston Federal Reserve Bank in economic modeling and taught “Trade and Globalization” at Harvard University. Following my principle to “include everything”, my goal is to teach economics at every college/university in the Boston area (so far, I have taught at Boston College, Suffolk University, Harvard University and Brandeis University). Currently, I am a full-time faculty at GSIEF and the Department of Economics at Brandeis University in Boston. In conjunction with these professional activities, I like to schedule presentations at conferences, which double as “professional vacations”, where I see friends spread all over the globe, and seed new research ideas. Geneva, Copenhagen, Istanbul, Glasgow and Kentucky were some of my most recent destinations. In my free time, I like to take pictures (and develop them if time allows), try to keep up with jazz music and compete in bridge tournaments. Squash, mountain biking and kayaking are just some of the sports that I also try to squeeze in. |
