Has globalization gone too far? Do we need any further trade liberalization? Should the new round be launched at the WTO's Fourth Ministerial Conference in November in Doha? Would the developing countries lose from further liberalization? How can we reverse the marginalisation of the LDCs in international trade and enhance LDCs' effective participation in the multilateral trading system? What about labor and environmental standards, TRIPs, agricultural policy reform, the international implications of the EU enlargement, ...? The public debate in these fields is lively and there is an increasing need for in-depth economic analyses. These are some of the many issues and questions which will be discussed at the ETSG Third Annual Conference in Brussels on September 14-16.

Conference Site

The conference will be held on the Solbosch campus of the Free University of Brussels. The campus is in a beautiful area. It is only five minutes of walk from the forest. It is also close to the city centers (10 to 15 minutes by taxi; 20 to 30 minutes by bus or tram depending on the area you want to go to). Click here to have a look at the campus map.

The conference will take place on the ground floor of the Building H, next to the campus entrance on the Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt.

Transportation from the Airport

The university campus is about 20 minutes by car from the airport. Knowing that you can easily exchange foreign currencies at the airport (most taxis accept also credit cards) we suggest two options:

Option 1: You can take a taxi from the airport to the hotel. This will cost about FB1200 (30).

Option 2: You can take the train (there is one every 15 minutes from the airport) to the Central Station (about FB120=3) and then take a taxi to the hotel. The ride from the Central Station to the hotel would cost about FB400=10.

Transportation from the City Center

The university campus is about 15 minutes by taxi and 30 minutes by bus or tram from the city center.

To go to the ULB campus you can take the buses number 71, 95, 96 or the trams 93, 94.

Be careful!

The ULB has several campuses. You need to go to the main campus which is the Solbosch Campus of the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) which is between Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt and Avenue Adolphe Buyl.

Registration Desk

The registration desk will open at 8:00 AM on Friday 14 September. It will stay open during the whole conference.

The registration desk is on the ground floor of the Building H next to the campus entrance on the Avenue Franklin D. Roosevelt (shown by the red arrow). It is a gray  building on Avenue F. D. Roosevelt.
